Harden's says

The brothers Gladwin have made waves in London over the last decade with half a dozen openings of their Local & Wild group, wooing city-dwellers with their down-home, foraged, family-farmed fare. Here, they go back to their roots with the 2026 takeover of a high-street pub 20 minutes' drive from aforementioned family farm where they grew up. Begs the obvious question: will the locals be more or less keen on the locally sourced fare than their city-dwelling cousins. To be fair, given the area, lots of 'em will be the same folks down for the weekend in their country cottages.

For 35 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

"As a hot newcomer new owners have only been open about 4 weeks, we felt a duty upon us to visit. A beautiful pub/restaurant in a small well healed village with seriously narrow streets. We arrived for our booking at 12 and were sat in the restaurant, short wait for the daily changing menu to be printed. On arrival the very helpful waitress took us through it detailing the various sections. I chose a delicious lambs tongue in aspic as my starter which I really enjoyed. We ordered mains, my partner ordered the beef fillet and I had the rose veal. She loved her dish and was very complimentary about it. My veal was nice, quite herby, and borderline over seasoned. Our biggest issue was the waitress didn’t actually explain the total lack of accompanying vegetables, or we would have ordered some. Desserts were both lovely, chocolate tart and profiteroles but both were more like petit fours size than a dessert. We had the interesting distraction of the quite loud instructions to the brigade in the kitchen the bonus being that we heard when our dishes were coming. The decor was nice the building is of an age so some restrictions in how it can be modernised. Toilets were clean and well appointed. A great experience, a few minor tweaks necessary to make it a real destination venue"
