“What a find! I’d happily make the journey from London to Fort William solely to eat again at this place!” reads one fan’s report on this Highlands fixture, which opened 35 years ago and always provides “the perfect antidote to a wet and windy day in Fort William”. Top Menu Tip – “delicious fresh langoustines with garlic butter”. Note, at present, the restaurant is operating out of its sibling town-centre Garrison West location at 4 Cameron Square while its landmark lochside location on the pier is done up.

A “lovely position on the water” overlooking Loch Linnhe makes Finlay & Lorna Finlayson’s distinctive red and white painted pierside venue the ideal place to sample fresh-caught West Coast fish and shellfish.

Finlay and Lorna Finlayson have served fish and seafood “straight from the sea” at their red-roofed pierside perch for more than three decades, with diners enjoying wonderful views over Loch Linnhe.

For 34 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
