Harden's survey result
Summary
‘A taste of Italy’ reimagined is the prospect at this Belsize Park fixture (the brainchild of coffee entrepreneur Jeffrey Young) which promises ‘the vibrant flavours of Australia, whilst serving homemade, authentic dishes which reflect our head chef’s Italian heritage’. The result is “a great local” in this under-served corner of town.
Summary
“A well-conceived shortish menu of varied and interesting food” has won a warm reception for coffee entrepreneur Jeffrey Young’s ‘Antipodean-inspired Modern Italian in the heart of Belsize Park’. A visit is buoyed along by “a warm welcome and efficient but unobtrusive service (everyone in our – not always easy to please – party said they’d like to go again soon!”).
Summary
Modern Italian cuisine with Antipodean influences – including an impressive list of Australian and New Zealand wines – is to be found at this new venture in the heart of Belsize Park from Aussie founder and coffee entrepreneur Jeffrey Young, who is also behind the England’s Lane café next door. It opened in April 2023, too late to inspire survey feedback, but early online buzz suggests it’s worth giving it a go.
For 34 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

Terra Moderna Restaurant Diner Reviews
"An attractive restaurant in Belsize Park which was busy on a Tuesday evening. The food was very good. We shared a starter watermelon and feta salad (£13) which was very good. We ate the salad with our two pasta dishes. My Agnolotti cacio & pepe (£25) was lovely but a tad too salty. Nevertheless I finished it. The tagliolini with truffle was very tasty. We had one glass of red 175ml (£8). With 13.5% service the bill was £82. We really enjoyed our meal and the service was friendly and good."
"Better than average neighbourhood Italian"
