Originating in New Delhi in 2014, the Farzi Cafe chain from the House of Massive Restaurants now has nine branches across India and in Dubai. The London opening serves up traditional Indian dishes in a contemporary style - buzzwords from the PR include "post-molecular", "laboratory-style", "playfully inspired" and "sonic homogeniser" (it's used to make cocktails, apparently). The drinks list is called The Vedika Menu, which is apparently Sanskrit for “restoring knowledge” - in our experience, cocktails often do the exact opposite...

The “large, two-storey” outpost of a brand from India’s Massive Restaurants group on Haymarket is worth knowing about if you’re fighting hunger in the heart of the West End; and offers “a good selection of food including a great variety of small plates” at a quality level that can surprise for such a touristy location. Wallet-friendly lunch and pre-theatre set meals add to its appeal.
