25 Ganton Street, London, W1F 9BP
Harden's survey result
Summary
“Still a really good location and format” – this Soho ‘tapas haven’ is increasingly forgotten about nowadays, but can still merit a visit. Its Italian/Spanish dishes “aren’t as good as they used to be” but are “solid, and better than many offerings in the area”; and there’s an interesting selection of drinks. Also, “it has a really relaxed style, but with all the vibe of neighbouring Carnaby Street”.
Summary
We’re in two minds about the inclusion of this former star of London’s tapas scene, which generates very little feedback nowadays despite a prime mid-Soho site. Fans do still laud its “well-crafted dishes and Spanish wines”, but others say “the food has that ‘here’s one I made earlier’ quality. OK, but not very exciting”.
Summary
“Delicious” Spanish and Italian tapas and “a great choice of wines by the glass” win plaudits for this “romantic candlelit restaurant”, “tucked away conveniently behind Liberty just off Carnaby Street”. However, since its fabulous debut 15 years ago, it is undeniably “less superb than it used to be”, but “that’s partly due to standing still while everyone else continues to press forwards”.
Summary
This “lovely little” spot with an “atmospheric terrace” off Carnaby Street has a strong reputation for its interesting combination of Spanish and Italian tapas. Ratings have slipped since its sale by the Salt Yard Group a few years ago – it’s “not quite what it once was, having lost its edge among a sea of Spanish excellence – but not bad!”.
For 34 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

Dehesa Restaurant Diner Reviews

"Great tapas in a busy soho area. Good sitting outside and Asia king up the atmosphere. Service became a little slow towards the end. "

"Sadly the quality of both the food and service at Dehesa has slipped. The prices haven't. Usual tapas small plates, but there is now better and more interesting elsewhere. Had difficulty finding out the alcohol percentage of the wines on offer which was a problem for a dining partner who has to be very careful about what he is able to drink. As you would expect being situated just off Carnaby Street the atmosphere is busy and lively."
