Harden's survey result
Summary
This family-run modern British restaurant overlooking the cathedral city’s market square is “going from strength to strength”, having been launched by “innovative” chef Tim Tonkin back in 2019. There’s a “focus on small sharing plates” but also an “interesting, balanced and delicious” tasting menu. Small niggle? “The quality of the cooking deserves better service”.
For 34 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

Allium Restaurant Diner Reviews

"An intimate first floor restaurant overlooking the Market Square. Tim, the chef, certainly knows his onions (apologies Allium for the pun) and delivers lovingly created dishes which feature seasonal produce with little personal twists that I really appreciated. The style is British, fine dining but without the tiny portions! Set lunch is excellent value. Efficient, friendly service ensured a very enjoyable experience. Highly recommended."
