Nathan Outlaw calls time on his Port Isaac flagship

Cornish seafood supremo Nathan Outlaw is to close his celebrated flagship Outlaw’s New Road in Port Isaac next year. The venue is the highest-rated fish specialist on the newly published 2026 Harden’s 100 list of the UK’s best restaurants, and is ranked at number 8 overall.

Its last service on March 28 will be closely followed by the unveiling of a new Outlaw’s Bistro inside Outlaw’s Guest House, which is just across the road. The chef also runs the highly regarded but more relaxed Outlaw’s Fish Kitchen in Port Isaac.

Outlaw’s New Road is the latest incarnation of Restaurant Nathan Outlaw, which originated in Fowey in 2007 and moved to Port Isaac 10 years ago, adopting its current name in 2020. A regular in the Harden’s 100, it peaked at number 2 on our national list in 2024.

Announcing the new moves, Nathan said: “It’s been an incredible chapter at Outlaw’s New Road. Watching both my team and myself develop, and seeing what we’ve achieved together has been nothing short of remarkable. To close the doors on such a high feels right… It lets us carry that momentum straight into Outlaw’s Bistro.

I’m also excited to see what the next custodians will do with the building. It’s a special place with a view that still catches me off-guard, even after all these years. I’m looking forward to seeing how it evolves over the next decade or two.

Outlaw’s Guest House is a nine-bedroom hotel previously known as the Stargazy Inn that Nathan and his wife Rachel acquired in three years ago. The new bistro will open on 3 April with 10 tables for lunch and dinner and will maintain Nathan’s focus on Cornish seafood – although at more affordable prices than New Road, with starters from about £16, main dishes from £32 and desserts from £8.

He says: “This is the space I have always pictured in my mind – simple, sincere and focused on cooking that makes people feel at home.”
