Next stop for the Darjeeling Express

Asma Khan’s Darjeeling Express is moving to much larger new premises in Soho next week – the fourth permanent address for an all-female venture that started out as a supperclub.

After three years in Kingly Court, it has taken over the former Hovarda site in Rupert Street, which will allow it to accommodate 130 guests on two floors.

Founded by TV chef, writer and United Nations chef-advocate Asma Khan, the outfit won high ratings in this year’s Harden’s guide for a “wonderful ethos alongside the amazing fare“.

Asma says: “Our team have been used to working in a very tight space, and now they are all so excited to be moving to a bigger kitchen with a bigger dining area.

The new facilities will enable the kitchen brigade to bring back favourite dishes that have been squeezed off the menu – such as the popular midweek biryani nights.
