Norwich chef Liam Nichols has launched his debut restaurant, promising fun as well as gastronomic quality at Northwic in the historic city centre.
The restaurant is tightly focused around an 18-seat counter and open kitchen in what used to be Biddy’s Tea Room on Lower Goat Lane, a pedestrianised medieval street of independent businesses.
Liam has worked under top chefs including Daniel Clifford at Midsummer House in Cambridge and Sat Bains in Nottingham. He made his reputation in Norwich as head chef at The Store in Stoke Mill, where he won a Michelin star before quitting two years ago to travel in Southeast Asia with his partner Becca.
Announcing his plans for Northwic this summer, he said: “I can’t quite believe I’ve bought a restaurant. It’s going to be fun and it’s going to be good.”
He added: “I love Norwich and I want to bring something fun, energetic and exciting to the city’s brilliant food scene.”
Northwic offers set menus at £75 per person for 5 courses, £95 for the “full send” at an L-counter upstairs. Downstairs there is a bar and a private dining room that can accommodate 10 diners.
